Private Collection

I have a collection of found objects that are beautiful to me... dead insects, broken glass, fallen leaves. The crown of this ramshackle collection is a broken robin’s egg. The fragments of the egg are the most compelling shade of blue/green/grey, and they surprise me every time I look at them. While spring arrived and robins emerged to fill the sky and trees with song, I stopped to watch one as it watched me from its perch. I thought about the beautiful eggs this bird makes, each one a glorious work of art, and I had the idea of painting a robin against a blue/green/grey sky.
